The diploma thesis formally consists of a mosaic of outputs across the media. It contains a set of videos, a set of embroidered pieces of clothing and a set of hand-drawn, subjective maps, all supplemented and accompanied by drawings, watercolors, texts, objects and audio. Thematically, the work has two layers. First, it deals with the reflection of (my) selected hobbies that relate to specific ideas about nature and landscape. These hobbies are divided into three thematic areas named Emo Maps, The Cowboy Spectrum, and Bio Tops. In the second layer, the work is a critical reflection on the use of hobby strategies in art work, as one of the last available ways to create in times of permanent crises.

Teaching colonialism in Czech schools

This thesis focuses on the issue of colonialism. However, this is not a theoretical work. The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the teaching of the topic itself at Czech elementary schools. The work could be divided into three imaginary parts. In the first part of the thesis, the methodology of the diploma thesis, related concepts of historical thinking is characterized, followed by the concept of colonialism in historiography. This part is followed by the second part. It characterizes how textbooks, websites and the framework educational program for primary schools work with the topic of colonialism. The last part of the thesis describes the research carried out by the author of this work. It consisted of visiting several elementary schools, where he conducted interviews with teachers and watched the teaching itself. As already mentioned, the work is based on concepts of historical thinking. I assumed that the topic would be problematic and would lead to the fact that both teachers and pupils would take a certain value attitude towards it. Furthermore, the theme is followed from the concept of causes and consequences and contemporary perspectives.

Colonial thinking of Czech travellers at the juncture of teh 19th and 20th centuries

The subject of this diploma thesis is to look at the journalistic work of Czech travelers at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries through postcolonial theory, using the example of orientalist Alois Musil. It draws primarily on the psychoanalytic reflections of Frantz Fanon, the essays of Aimé Césaire, and Edward W. Said's conception of orientalism. The subject of the thesis is also to look at Czechoslovakia's "colonialism without colonies", especially through two theories: the non-colonial orientalism of Sara Lemmen and the colonial exceptionalism of Filip Herza. The intention of the thesis is also to mention the history of Czechoslovak colonialism, which forms the context of Musil's work, and to summarize research that focuses on the Czechoslovak image of colonies and the colonized. These serve, among other things, as a point of comparison with the results of the analysis of this thesis. The main aim of the thesis is to find out whether Alois Musil's journalistic work contains stereotypes of colonial thinking, or what specific stereotypes are involved. Critical discourse analysis is used to analyze Alois Musil's newspaper articles, with the aim of critically focusing on the power relations in society that both shape and are shaped by discourse. Transformation as part of colonial identity

(english): From a logical point of view, the colonial system is based on the difference between races, where one controls the other. This aspect significantly impacts the subjects from the perspective of their identity because their skin colour brings them significant disadvantages in how they live. The consequence of this discomfort can be the disintegration or assumption of a foreign identity, a pathological relationship to one's physicality. In the 20th century, many theorists of colonialism and post-colonialism analyzed these consequences. They are mainly Frantz Fanon, Albert Memmi and the American author Nella Larsen. All three of these provide a perspective that involves an active change in appearance as a way of integration that is not otherwise possible because, as David Macey writes in Frantz Fanon's biography, there are only two ways out, putting on a white mask, or rebellion. Therefore, if we turn to the first option, it is necessary to monitor the consequences for the subject undergoing this change and the one who observes it. That is also how the colonizer is doing. Thus, this work will not work with identity as something homogeneous, unchanging and motionless but as something that undergoes constant change.
